Carluke judo ace picks up British silver medal

CARLUKE judo marvel Michelle Boyle is eyeing future Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games success after stirring performances at the British Championship.

Michelle (17) won junior silver and senior bronze medals at the Sheffield tournament, proof of her continued improvement.

“Next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will come just a bit soon for me,” Michelle said.

“But my aim is to qualify for the Scottish teams at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

“I’ve already got a good record in international competitions and I believe I can win plenty more gold medals in the future.”

Michelle, who is studying Sports Leadership at Edinburgh College, enjoyed British Championship junior victories over Glasgow’s Kate Saunders and England’s Kelly Wright before she was defeated by England’s Jody Myers.
