Carluke Rovers win promotion without kicking a ball

CARLUKE Rovers have won their first piece of major silverware for 40 years, without having to kick a ball in anger last weekend.

Rovers’ Central Division 2 title win was confirmed on Saturday when rivals Forth drew 0-0 at Johnstone Burgh. And Rovers were also helped out by St Roch’s being held to a 0-0 home draw by Wishaw last Wednesday.

Thrilled Rovers manager Colin Slater said: “We are delighted to win something for the first time since the old second division title way back in 1971-72. Credit to our boys.
