Carluke’s Gemma Gibb swims part of English Channel

SWIMMING a total of six-and-a-half miles on parts of the English Channel didn’t go without its hitches for heroic Carluke fundraiser Gemma Gibb.

But Lanark Triathlon Club member Gemma (32), of High Meadow, battled a series of challenges to complete the daunting task and help raise over £10,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

“It was a seriously tough day,” Gemma said: “The first challenge was leaving Dover at the really early time of 5.10am.”
