Carnwath racer Stuart Gilchrist is Superstock World Champion

CARNWATH racer Stuart Gilchrist survived the rough and tumble of an ultra competitive stock car contest to become Superstock World Champion this month at Foxhall Heath Stadium in Ipswich.

Former Scottish and British champ Gilchrist (35) became the first Scottish winner of the prestigious world title since Dunfermline driver Vic Russell achieved the feat way back in 1985.

“I was on the front row of the grid and was challenged right away by former world champion Steve Jackson,” he said.

“But I made sure I gave Steve a fair old skelp to get him out of the way!
