Christine Lees, Carluke, recalls last Motherwell FC Cup Final triumph

NEXT month will see Motherwell take on Celtic in the 2011 Scottish Cup final, 20 years on from their famous 4-3 Hampden final triumph against Dundee United.

For one Motherwell fan, from Carluke, the day will bring back special memories.

Christine Lees (73) cheered on her side 20 years ago and got an even bigger shock in the evening – when she was given the chance to have her picture taken with the cup and her favourite player Davie Cooper in the Railway Inn, owned at the time by former Celtic star Dixie Deans.

It was a dream come true for Christine and she hopes the Steelmen can bring the cup back to Motherwell 20 years on.
