City face tough draw against French giants

Glasgow City face one of the toughest and most glamourous ties in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, drawing French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the Quarter Finals.

The well-renowned French side defeated two time former winners, and four time finalists in the last five years, Olympique Lyon in the last 16 and will present City with one of their biggest ever challenges in Europe’s most elite club competition.

Packed with some of the world’s best known faces in the game, PSG without doubt will bring one of the greatest ever women’s sporting occasions to Scotland, when the two sides meet for the first leg in Glasgow on 21st or 22nd March, with the exact date and venue of the tie still to be confirmed.

Commenting on the draw, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “At this stage of the competition you are always expecting a tough tie. There was never going to be an easy game in the quarter finals of the Champions League. What I can say is that it is good for travel, we will get plenty information on them and what an exciting game for any player to have at any stage of their career. There is no doubt we are massive underdogs in the tie, but as PSG proved in the last round sometimes underdogs can win. It is a massive game for our club and also for our game and home City and hopefully one which Scotland can embrace and get behind us in numbers.”

Ticket information will be announced shortly by Glasgow City via their website www.glasgowcityfc.co.uk and also their twitter and facebook @GlasgowCityFC. Without doubt this is one game not to be missed.
