Clash of the top table Titans

City’s well aware of the importance of Sunday’s game against goal-rich Hibs.

It’s a top of the table clash as Glasgow City take on Hibernian at K Park, East Kilbride, in the later kick-off of 4pm.

Both sides have enjoyed a 100 per cent record so far this season in both the SWPL and SWPL Cup and will contest the League Cup Final on Wednesday, June 3.

However, something must give in the title race this weekend as both sides aim to retain their winning ways.

For Glasgow City, they welcome back Irish international Denise O’Sullivan after missing the League Cup semi-final due to international duty, but remain without Alyshia Walker and Courtney Whyte after both recently picked up injuries.

Hibernian will look to build on their impressive goal scoring form, which has seen the Edinburgh side score 21 League goals in only five games, a feat bettered only by City who lead the Hibees at the top of the table on goal difference only.

The goal scoring threat from Hibernian has not gone unnoticed from City head coach Eddie Wolecki Black. He said, “We are very much looking forward to this match. Hibs have made an excellent start to the season and it is no surprise they sit at the top of the league along with ourselves. Of course, we are due to meet soon in the League Cup final which again confirms their place as genuine challengers for all the honours this season. Both sides like to attack and I am certain it will be an open and entertaining game. Another certainty is that we shall have to play well to retain our current League position.”
