Clyde are left out in the cold

IT MAY have been the first fixture of the new year, but it proved to be the same story we've grown used to over the past few weeks.

Clyde's tie with Berwick Rangers on Sunday, as the last five matches have, fell victim to the adverse weather conditions, as a chunk of the Broadwood pitch was still entombed by an icy shell.

At the time of going to press, The Bully Wee's re-arranged fixture with Queen's Park this Saturday was still expected to go ahead at Broadwood.

The game with The Spiders was originally postponed on November 27 due to the strike by Scotland's referees.

Clyde's only victory so far this season has come against the men in black and white at Hampden back in August.

Meanwhile, defender Murray Henderson has left the Cumbernauld club suddenly due to work commitments.

The centre back, who started seven times this season and appeared twice as a sub, has been relocated to Dubai by his employers.

Manager Stuart Millar told the club's website he will maintain Henderson's registration for the time being.

He added: "Personally, I've worked with Murray over many years and I will particularly miss his professionalism off the park and his presence in the dressing room. However, I understand and respect his decision to go."

The wages freed by Henderson's departure could lead to a loan signing in the coming weeks.
