Clyde face part one of vital double header

Since beating Berwick 3-2 at Broadwood on November 19 the Bully Wee have lost 11 out of 14 games, taking just three points out of a possible 42.

Two of those points were taken from goalless draws with Edinburgh City and it’s the league newcomers who visit Broadwood on Saturday.

Apart from those two 0-0 encounters, Clyde also beat City 1-0 in Edinburgh in the sides’ first meeting of the season in October.

A long-awaited victory would move Clyde back up above their opponents into eighth place in the League 2 table.

But defeat would edge them closer to the prospect of losing their league status.

The relegation play-off spot is currently occupied by Cowdenbeath who are five points behind Clyde, but with a game in hand, and who visit Broadwood on Tuesday.

Clyde’s latest setback came on Saturday when they went down 1-0 at Arbroath.

But interim co-manager Jon Paul McGovern said there were positives to take.

He said: “Frustrating’s a good way to describe it but I think we maybe take some good points from today.

“Take nothing away from Arbroath, they’re a good side trying to go and win the league. We more than matched them I thought.

“We had them pinned in the last 20 minutes, but it’s the age-old thing of coming and doing well and not getting the result and at the end of the day we need to get some results.

“We work hard and we go again with a couple of big games coming up for us.”
