Clydesdale kids get expert coaching at School of Sport

CLYDESDALE schoolkids received 14 weeks worth of coaching in one weekend – at the 29th annual Clydesdale Sports Council School of Sport.

Expert advice in athletics, football, golf, hockey and badminton were simultaneously handed out to 75 youngsters from the Biggar, Carluke and Lanark areas.

Day one at the National Sports Training Centre, in Largs, featured a two-and-a-half hour session before a lunch break was followed by three-and-a-half hours more action in the afternoon. Further sessions followed on the Sunday which added up to a total of around 15 hours of coaching.

“It was another hugely successful event,” said Clydesdale Sports Council liason officer Colin McKendrick.

“The kids’ behaviour was absolutely perfect which made the coaches’ jobs so much easier. You could see the enjoyment on the kids’ faces. Everybody seemed to have a good time.”
