Crawfordjohn Heavy Mob lose in first round of Swamp Soccer World Championships

IT was a case of ‘muddy hell’ for the Crawfordjohn Heavy Mob team which competed in the Swamp Soccer World Championships at The Wisp near Edinburgh.

For, despite finishing top of their qualifying section after two wins and one defeat on five-a-side pitches with mud a foot deep, the Clydesdale villagers failed to reach the tournament knockout stages.

Heavy Mob player Tom Collins said: “We played really well in the first two games on day one, beating Sweden 4-1 and the Australian Will Hennessey Queen of the South team 8-1.
