For James (43) was the third Scot at the recent Barcelona Ironman contest featuring a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and 26-mile marathon, all run back to back!

“This was a massive achievement for James,” said his proud wife Shona.

“He has only been training for ironman competitions for the past three years, so to be doing so well at such an early stage is unbelievable.”

James became one of only a handful of Scotsmen to break the 10-hour ironman barrier by finishing the Barcelona showpiece in 9hrs 57mins. This helped him finish 98th overall in an event entered by 1300 competitors from all over the world.
