Cumbernauld hoping for better weather

AS we enter a new month, everyone at Cumbernauld Rugby Club has their fingers crossed that the weather turns a bit kinder and they can get a few more rugby games played than we had in January.

Both seniors, youth and minis have a full calendar of events planned, especially with the added interest of the 6 Nations starting this weekend.

A spokeman for the club said: “Scotland play England at Twickenham on Saturday with a 4pm kick-off, but before this we have Cumbernaulds 1st XV hosting title challengers and local rivals Lenzie in a match that will kick-off at 2pm. There’s high hopes that the 1st XV will build on last Saturday’s 13-0 victory against McLaren, and give their near neighbours title hopes a bit of a dent.

“And then on Sunday we have the S1/2 team visiting Alan Glens, whilst the under 15 team host Clydebank. The same day, the mini section have a special training session as they take part in the opening event of the Glasgow Warriors Super Sunday initiative that will see one of the Glasgow Warrior pro players coming along to assist with their training session.”

The under 15 team are looking to boost their squad for the second half of the season, so if you are in S3 or S4 and are interested in finding out more about playing for the Club, then phone Paul for more details (07960 811326), or you can visit the Club website at www.playrugby-cumbernauld.co.uk
