Cumbernauld indoor bowlers in finals

Unfortunately the Ladies Triples team of A. Lloyd, J. McMillan and P. Casey came up against a very good team from Blantyre. Despite the game being close for a large part of the match, the Blantyre ladies gradually drew away and ran out worthy winners.

The Gents Senior Triples team of I. Ferguson, E. Wightman and H. Gibson playing against Whiteinch had a very close game and were unlucky to be on the losing side.

Linda Fleming, the Ladies Single finalist was playing against G. Norman from Coatbridge. Linda, playing in her first final, started a bit slow but as the game progressed she began to play very well and gave her more experienced opponent a few nervous moments before finally being defeated. But the best was kept for last when the Gents Triples team of J. Lowe, C. Whyte and T. Anderson triumphed in their final. With four ends to go the score was very close but Cumbernauld took control of the match in the final ends, keeping the pressure on their opponents who could not respond to their excellent bowling, to secure a well deserved victory.

Well done to everyone who reached the finals and a thank you from the players to everyone who came to support them on the day.

The indoor season is practically finished and all the finals have been played. A list of all the champions will be provided in the next issue.

Although the leagues etc have been completed the stadium will still be open during the summer months although on a more restricted basis. For information on availability the stadium can be phoned on 01236 727852.
