Daniel Monteith follows in legends footsteps
THANKERTON lad Daniel Monteith is this week following in the footsteps of football superstars Andrea Pirlo, Alan Shearer and Xabi Alonso.
For Biggar High pupil Daniel (12), of Millands Road, is playing as a striker for Tynecastle FC under-13s in the world’s biggest youth football tournament, the Gothia Cup, in Sweden from July 14 to 19.
His dad John said: “Great players like Shearer, Pirlo and Alonso starred at this tournament when they were just starting out in their football careers.

Hide Ad“It will be a great chance for Daniel to impress any watching scouts.
“His strengths are that he works very hard and he is a great team player.
“He has a long way to go, but his ultimate ambition is to turn professional.”
