The trip, organised with the help of Clydesdale Sports Council and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, was a great benefit to everyone concerned according to Sports Council chairman Millar Stoddart.

Millar said: “The group saw first-hand the great facilities at Milton Rovers and learned about the history of the group.

“Birte was very impressed as she had been over when the facility opened a few years ago.

“She was also pleased to meet up with John as they have known each other for many years.”

The Danes’ trip also included a presentation in Hamilton on the work of South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture and trying their hand at curling at Hamilton Ice Rink.

Millar added: “The Danes thoroughly enjoyed their time over here. They left with an insight into the way sport is organised in this country and South Lanarkshire in particular.”
