The Welsh forward is looking to better that tally. He said: “I want to improve on the points total I got last season.”

And he’ll get his chance to add to the team tally in their first European campaign.

The Braehead Clan have been drawn to face Swedish side Växjö Lakers and ERC Ingolstadt of Germany.

The draw was made in Prague this week, where the IIHF World Championships are currently being held as the Clan were drawn into Group 15 in the 16-group first phase.

For skipper Matt Keith, it will be a return to German side, where he made 46 appearances in the DEL, scoring 28 points in the 2008-09.

Director, Gareth Chalmers said: “It’s a fantastic group to get for our first Euro campaign.”

He added: “I’m sure Ryan Finnerty and everyone at the Clan will be looking ahead to it.

“There’s no doubt Ingolstadt and Växjö will present a massive challenge to us, but it’s one we’re really looking forward to and can’t wait to play them.

“It’s also something the fans will enjoy as well and I’m sure they’ll have their passports out in anticipation of the trips to Sweden and Germany.

“It’s a good draw for us to get and now the preparation continues as we get the team ready for the CHL.

Clan’s Elite League rivals Sheffield Steelers were drawn to face last season’s CHL runners-up Frölunda Gothenburg of Sweden and Finnish side JYP Jyväskylä.
