Dingwall aims to reach double figures

CLYDE striker Bryan Dingwall has set a double target as he starts his first season in senior football having made the step up from the juniors.

Now 34, Dingwall carved out a fearsome reputation as a goalscorer at Lanark United, Bellshill Athletic, Maryhill, and Pollok and hopes to bring that prowess to his new side.

He said: "This is my first time in senior football and to be honest I just got to a stage where I wanted a wee change.

"Clyde gave me the chance to come and train over the summer and I was delighted to then be given the opportunity to join the squad for the new season."

Dingwall, along with eight of his new team mates, all made their competitive debut for the Bully Wee on Saturday in a narrow 2-1 defeat away to first division Partick Thistle in the ALBA Challenge Cup.

He continued: "I thought we did well against Partick and had a couple of chances.

"Personally I had a volley in the first half and a header in the second that I maybe should have done a little better with.

"However, provided I get into the positions it shouldn't be all that much different scoring in senior football than it was in the juniors and with the likes of Adam Strachan and Kevin Finalyson on the wings there should be plenty of ammunition."

Dingwall will be looking to open his Clyde account this Saturday (July 31) when first division Cowdenbeath visit Broadwood in the Co-operative Insurance Cup, before the third division campaign starts a week later at home to Stranraer.

Dingwall added: "It would be good to get a wee cup run but obviously the league in the main priority.

"We are a new team so first of all we just want to establish ourselves in the division but I think if we at least reach the play-offs then we'll have had a decent season.

"Personally I'm hoping I can try and reach double figures in goals and then we'll take it from there."
