Donna Kennedy still optimistic about Six Nations hopes

DESPITE being part of the Scotland women's rugby team which crashed 28-12 in Wales on Saturday, Carnwath ace Donna Kennedy refuses to accept that the Scots' Six Nations championship hopes are dead.

"Realistically we are pushing for second place but we can still win the championship," Donna (38) said.

"Although England have won their first two games 31-0 against Wales and 41-0 against Italy, we think that England are beatable.

"We face them at Meggatland on March 13 and they hate coming to Scotland. We can beat them up if we play outstandingly well and get on top of them."

Donna's bullish attitude comes despite the disappointment of the Wales defeat, when the Scots' two tries were scored by Tania Griffiths and Lynn Reid.

"We made fundamental errors and gave away 14 soft points to Wales," she said.

"We were in the Wales 22 a few times but couldn't convert that pressure into points.

"That was very disappointing because it was an area we had been working hard on."
