Don’t mess with these Lesmahagow black belts!
MARTIAL arts aces at Kihonkai Karate Academy, which meets twice a week at Lesmahagow High School, have been going black belt crazy!
No fewer than four Kihonkai youngsters – who are trained by Fifth Dan Steve Mason – succeeded in passing the coveted Karate Black Belt 1st Dan, under examiner Mike McCusker 6th Dan at a recent event in Glasgow.
Local kids John Gordon (12), of Lesmahagow High, Ross Macleod (11), Blackwood Primary and Kieran Todd (10), of Douglas Primary, joined Motherwell 15-year-old Kirsty Haddow in gaining black belts on one special weekend for the Academy.
