Duffy to make changes to keep things fresh

Saturday’s 1-0 win over Elgin City brought the Bully Wee to within three points of ninth placed East Stirling, with a game in hand.

The situation is made all the more intriguing as The Shire were due to visit Broadwood last night for a division three basement battle.

Boss Jim Duffy said: “The fact that we’ve closed the gap is good for the club and the supporters. But there’s still a number of games to go.

“My aim was never to reach any certain position, it’s always been to get as many points as possible and get the respectability back.”

Clyde’s improved league position is due in part to the fine performance of out-of-favour keeper JC Hutchison, who was a surprise inclusion at Elgin on Saturday.

Duffy continued: “It was a terrific result, it’s a tough place to go. We played well in the first half but, in the second, we did get penned in. The goalkeeper had an inspired performance.

“The players worked hard and importantly, we had something to hold on to.”

Top scorer Marc McCusker bagged the only goal of the game to take his tally to 12.

Duffy said: “He’s had a great season and if Marc gets the opportunity to move up the ladder and further his career I’ll be delighted for him. That’s what should happen.”

The Bully Wee are off over the border on Saturday for a date with Berwick Rangers.

Duffy added: “They’re as good as most of the other teams in this league, it’s a very tight division.

“We’ll make some changes to keep things fresh and go looking for three points.”
