East Ren’s cream of the tennis crop go head to head

This weekend sees a double header featuring East Ren’s top two tennis clubs, Whitecraigs and Giffnock.

Whitecraigs, the current defending West of Scotland Premier Division Champions, travel the short distance to Giffnock tomorrow (Friday) looking
to avenge an earlier league defeat.

Saturday sees both face off again at Whitecraigs, this time in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup.

The match will no doubt feature Whitecraigs’ head coach Jon Pankhurst and Alan MacDonald, who were in Florida representing Great Britain in the World Over 35 Team Event, where GB won Bronze.

Jon Pankhurst commented: “These should be two cracking matches with no firm favourite, and the Scottish Cup match should go all the way to the wire.

“This could be our year to lift the Cup and we will be doing all we can to get to the next round.”

The match starts noon Saturday, entry for supporters is free, and catering is available at the club from noon-3pm.
