Fearless Lesmahagow team completed Monte Carlo Classic Rally

WITH steep drops measuring thousands of feet lurking just beyond roadside barriers on a treacherous route winding its way past mountains, the Monte Carlo Classic Rally from January 29 to February 4 was not for the faint-hearted.

But a fearless team from Craighead Garage in Lesmahagow – piloting a restructured 1978 Porsche 924 car nicknamed Trusty Turbo – negotiated their 3000-mile journey taking in Scotland, England and the mountains above Monaco.

“It was very hairy for our team driver Rick Pearson when he was going along those precipices,” said team support worker Chris Hurst (67), from Lanark.
