Fight goes on for Craigs

However despite chance for sevens success, their relegation from Premier two remains a bitter pill to swallow.

Whitecraigs coach Jim Henderson has reacted angrily to the Scottish rugby union’s decision to publish the appeal judgement, which details the reinstatement of the two points which were deducted from Hillhead Jordanhill for their cancellation of a game against Selkirk.

The decision meant relegation for Craigs and survival for Hills.

Mr Henderson said: “It was with astonishment that whilst receiving by e-mail the appeal judgement this afternoon, we learned that it was also on the SRU website. “We would caution any reader to view this appeals document in the knowledge that there is a second document which should be read in conjunction with this the Championship Committees’ original decision. “Your committee is actively continuing to pull all the information together when we believe a more balanced view will be taken”.

In the appeal, Hillhead Jordanhill’s two point reduction was abolished with the club being reprimanded instead.

Meanwhile, Craig Sorbie, the 27-year-old GHA stand-off, has won RBS Try of the Month for March after a stunning length-of-the-field team score. Sorbie, who teaches PE at Hutchesons’ grammar school, coaching the school’s under-16 team, scored the try against Haddington in a 34-18 win in RBS Premier Division 3 at Braidholm on March 3.

GHA play Howe of Fife on Saturday in their final Premier 3 fixture. Kick off is at Braidholm at 3pm.
