Firsts take their try tally into double figures

CUMBERNAULD continued their quest for league and cup honours by building on last week’s impressive league result with another big win, this time in the West Region Bowl competition.

With a trip to Dunoon to take on Cowal, Cumbernauld could have been forgiven for a slow start after the train, bus and ferry trip, but they soon rediscovered their try scoring form that gave them the dominant victory the previous week against Uddingston.

In all, Cumbernauld scored ten tries with Gallacher (2), R. Cowie (2), Branks (2), Calder, Clark, G. Cowie and C. Fraser all getting their names on the scoresheet. With the wind whipping off the Firth of Clyde it wasn’t a day for goal kicking, but both Reid and Burns found success in kicking conversions.
