Despite the absence of Scotland regulars Jo Love and Hayley Lauder, who returned injured from national team duty, and Scotland U19 star Sam Kerr carrying a knock, City controlled last Sunday’s game and were easy winners.

Pre-season signing Savannah Jordan scored her second hat-trick in her second competitive game for City and she got the scoring underway after five minutes, heading home a Leanne Ross cross after full back Nicola Docherty had been fouled near the touchline.

Irish international, and another pre-season signing, Noelle Murray made it 2-0 just after the half hour mark as she fired past Logan in the Stirling nets after her first effort was well saved.

Shortly into the second half and captain Leanne Ross made it 3-0 with a good finish from just inside the box.

Jordan got her second of the game and her side’s fourth with a finish into the bottom corner, before completing her hat-trick on 72 minutes when finishing a terrific team goal which saw excellent play from Murray and Brogan Hay in setting up Jordan.

Defender Keeva Keenan joined in the scoring with a half-volley from a City corner and second half substitute Kodie Hay fired an excellent effort past Logan with seven minutes remaining to complete the high scoring win for the champions.

Commenting, City head coach Scott Booth told reporters after the match: “It was pleasing to take the three points today and score so many.

“The players worked really hard and I am sure they will keep getting better and better in the coming weeks.”

City are back in action this weekend with a tough away match against expected title challengers Celtic on Sunday.

And Stirling Uni surely won’t be looking forward to facing Glasgow City again in a League Cup quarter-final at the Excelsior on Sunday, March 26.
