A win will keep Rob Roy in Premier League

It’s back to league business this Saturday for Rob Roy after a nervy 3-1 Central League Cup win over Greenock at Adamslie Park last weekend.

The Kirkintilloch side take on Arthurlie this Saturday and a win would ensure Premier League survival.

Rabs made things hard for themselves last Saturday in the cup clash with Greenock.

They were leading 2-0 after 45 minutes, but the controversial sending-off of star striker Willie Sayers was followed by a Greenock goal.

Rabs scored again with six minutes remaining but Greenock - who were down to nine men - made it 3-2 shortly after to make the closing minutes tense for the Kirkintilloch team.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Rob Roy manager Stewart Maxwell said: “I’m a great believer in not relying on other teams doing you favours.

“If we win on Saturday we’re safe regardless of what the other teams do - which has been our aim all season after starting with little in the way of players or money.

“We can then concentrate on the two cups we’re still in - you never know what might happen in them.”

Rob Roy take on Arthurlie on Saturday at Dunterlie Park. Kick-off is at 2pm.
