Mr Fox, a local estate agent, took over the club in 2007 when it was homeless and on the brink of going out of existence.

However, after several years of lodging with Vale of Clyde in Glasgow, last summer he was able to spearhead the club’s return to Bellshill with the refurbishment of Rockburn Park.

Mr Fox said: “I leave the club in a much better place since taking over in 2007 when it was on the point of folding.

“During my time as chairman we have had many lows, being made homeless and having to leave the town for a number of years, and consecutive relegations.

“But we have had a few highs as well, last season’s promotion and ultimately the return to the town of Bellshill to play at Rockburn Park this season.

“Turning a derelict building/facility into a proper club base has brought a lot of satisfaction to myself and everyone involved and is solid evidence of their hard work and commitment and I’m hopeful the club can progress further now a base has been secured.

“I would like to thank all those who have supported me throughout my tenure through committee membership sponsorship fundraising and attending social events to support my commitment to keeping a club steeped in history since 1897 alive.

“I wish the committee, helpers, management, players and supporters my best wishes for the future.”
