The visitors went ahead in the 12th minute when a cross from the right saw the East End striker beat keeper Storey from eight yards.

Watch struggled to penetrate a strong East End defence and the equaliser did not come until the 38th minute. A perfect through ball from Punter to Docherty saw the wing-half’s volley partially saved by the keeper and Logan was on the spot to net.

There was no doubt the visitors, although in a lower league to Watch, were very impressive. Blackies opened strongly after the interval and went 2-1 in front in the 52nd minute.

After a pass down the left from full-back Meechan to Prentice, the ball went on to Aitken and, as the striker sped in on goal, he placed the ball across goal for Logan to net.

This did not stop East End from hitting back and they equalised in the 66th minute with a pass from midfield that caught out the Watch central defenders. The striker finished superbly.

The winner for Blackies came in the 73rd minute and it was a beauty. Cairney, with a fine tackle, won the ball short of the halfway line and his pass to Aitken saw the big striker run 30 yards before releasing a brilliant pass to McIlroy, who ran onto the ball to hit an unsaveable shot from 25 yards.
