Boyle gaining massive experience from loan spell at Clyde

Clyde loan star Jack Boyle believes he will gain massively from his switch from the English top flight to the bottom tier of Scottish football.

The 20-year-old, on loan from English Premiership side Huddersfield Town, scored both goals as Clyde kept their promotion hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Stirling Albion at Broadwood on Saturday.

Boyle was givcen a standing ovation by the Bully Wee faithful when he was substituted near the end.

And he believes the support of the fans, and the fact that he is playing regular first-team football, has vindicated his decision to move north, albeit temporarily.

He said: “At Huddersfield you’re playing under-23s football and if you get a winner in the 90th minute it doesn’t really mean a lot.

“Here it means much more and it’s a massive experience. It’s good for young players to get that experience.

“It’s a big boost when you’ve got all the fans backing you. You’ll always have some bad games as well as good games, but they stick by you in the bad games as well.”

Boyle also agreed his performance against Stirling was probably his best since arriving at Broadwood in January.

He said: “It’s my first proper dominating performance. I thought I started off well but slowly and once I got the first goal I started to move a bit quicker because you get that confidence and then got the second goal.”

Clyde travel to Edinburgh City on Saturday for their penultimate fixture.
