The opening 15 minutes saw both teams play good football but not really creating many chances.

The hosts won a corner and the attack was stopped by Jamie Donnelly.

At the other end, Euan Baird made a darting run into the Cambuslang penalty box but his cut back was cleared, the loose ball was picked up by Steven Seaton who shrugged off two challenges before firing a shot straight at the keeper.

After 22 minutes the deadlock was broken, albeit, against the run of play.

A pass from ex ‘vale’ player Bohme found its way to one of his team mates who slipped it over Donnelly to give the hosts a one-nil lead.

Two minutes later and that lead was doubled after Cambuslang won a corner and from the delivery Gormley was allowed to head the ball into the net unchallenged.

On the half hour mark, the game was stopped when Euan Baird was badly injured and had to be stretchered off.

Ten minutes later ‘Vale’ were dealt another blow when Steven Seaton was replaced by Gary Trussler after landing awkwardly.

Soon after the restart Jamie Donnelly produced a fantastic save from a shot which he saw late.

This was the last action of a frustrating half for Rossvale who went in two goals down.

After the break, ‘Vale’ started the more hungrier of the teams with defender Darren Ferguson being replaced by David Shaw in a bold move to boost the attacking options for Rossvale and this paid off when ‘Vale’ won a free kick on 64 minutes 25 yards from goal.

Forbes fired it towards goal only for Stewart in goal to push it over for a corner.

Dolan crossed and the ball was bundled over the line by skipper Sean Doherty. The comeback was now on.

And within ten minutes ‘Vale’ were level.

A long clearance by Donnelly found Gary McGrath who was brought down.

An excellent delivery from Dolan was met by the inspirational Doherty who headed in to level the game at 2-2.

Only one team looked like winning this and it was the visitors.

Cambuslang could not cope with the pressure and
relied on fouls to stop the Rossvale players from inflicting the killer blow.

This proved to be their downfall when Holmes evaded two heavy challenges and continued his run into the box, the third challenge was enough to bring him down and the referee pointed straight to the penalty spot.

Forbes stepped up and dispatched the penalty to the keepers’ right and give the
visitors the lead for the first time in the game.

Rossvale were full of running for the last ten minutes and kept good possession to ensure they held out for a 3-2 win.
