It looks set to be a busy summer transfer window for both Celtic and Rangers at the end of the current season and the free agent market may very well be a place that both clubs turn to for some bargain deals.
South of the border, there are a number of high profile names that look set to be let go by some of the English Premier League’s top sides - but could they do it on a cold Tuesday night in Livingston? Here are 10 current Premier League players, set to become free agents this summer, that Celtic or Rangers could look to sign in the next transfer window:
5. Nathaniel Clyne
The right-back has racked up 19 starts in the top flight this season but it is unclear whether he will stay on at Selhurst Park beyond the summer. The 32-year-old could be a useful signing for either of the Glasgow sides.
6. Adam Forshaw
The midfielder’s career has been plagued with injuries in recent years and he has failed to pick up regular game time at Leeds United. However, he is clearly a very good player and could prove important if he can avoid the treatment room.
7. Shane Duffy
Duffy’s loan spell with Fulham was made permanent earlier this year but only until the summer. His last spell with Celtic was not the best period of his career but he still has bags of experience and could be worth a second chance.
8. Matty Longstaff
The midfielder’s career has gone downhill after a forgettable loan spell at Aberdeen and he is now enduring a long spell on the sidelines with an ACL injury but he was once very highly regarded by Newcastle United.
