Scottish champions Celtic are reportedly planning to begin talks with Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen in January as they work towards a statement deal that would see the experienced star arrive at Parkhead on a free next summer.
The 140-time Danish international has just six months remaining on his existing contract at Old Trafford and is not thought to be a part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s long-term vision at the club.

Sun Sport understands that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of Eriksen and believes that his team would benefit hugely from the 32-year-old’s experience at the top European level, having reached the Champions League final with Tottenham in 2019.
The former Serie A and Eredivisie winner is a familiar face to international team-mate Kasper Schmeichel, who has already proved a hugely beneficial arrival after arriving on a free in the summer.
Ex-Hoops boss Neil Lennon, however, is sceptical of the signing and does not believe Eriksen is needed in what is already a very strong Hoops midfield.

He’s a classy player and has always has been, but I’m not sure who he would come in to replace. You’d have to consider the wages he’d want as well. I can’t see it happening and I’m not sure it would the club at the moment.”
Rangers push to sign 18-time international
Scottish giants Rangers have emerged as one of the leading candidates to land Republic of Ireland international Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Boot Room understands that the Seagulls could be open to the idea of loaning Ferguson out in January, with Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck currently being the first choice starters ahead of the 20-year-old.
The report claims that Rangers along with Celtic have expressed an interest in signing Ferguson until the end of the season to boost their aspirations of success both in the league and in Europe.
Ferguson, who netted a hat-trick against Newcastle United last season, is also believed to be a target for Premier League strugglers Southampton, Leicester City and Fulham.
