Celtic close to three transfer deals as Wolves star amongst triple signing crew in frantic summer window end
Celtic are closing in on three transfer deals - including one for a player at Wolves.
Celtic are closing in on three transfer deals as they look set for a madcap end to the transfer window.
The Hoops have signed four players so far, Hasseim Hassan, Camilo Duran, Mika Baur and Kasper Hogh, with more required amid a league phase campaign in the Europa League. Three deals could be completed by the end of the transfer deadline day on Thursday with a clash against Aberdeen at Parkhead also to be navigated. Their European squad deadline hits at around 11pm on Wednesday night.
Sam Johnstone is currently with Wolves but the goalkeeper capped by England is falling down the pecking order at Molineux. Hoops boss Martin O’Neill is in need of a goalkeeper and a loan switch is now in the works for the ex-Aston Villa and Manchester United shot-stopper.
When will Sam Johnstone sign for Celtic?
On the Wolves keeper, it’s claimed by the Daily Record: “Sam Johnstone is expected in Glasgow today to finalise his loan move to Celtic. The Scottish champions have agreed the outline of a loan deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The former England keeper has now been given permission to travel north to complete his switch.
“The deal is subject to a medical, but sources close to the deal believe it should be finalised in the next 24 hours. Record Sport revealed last night that the Hoops had made their move for the 33-year-old. Wolves have Jose Sa as No.1 and Wolves have also brought in John Ruddy and Joao Virginia in recent days. That opened the door for Johnstone, who has four England caps, to go out and get games.
“His camp pitched him to Celtic and now they have pressed the button on a move. Celtic will pay part of his wages and providing there are no last-minute hitches, then he will come in and compete with Viljami Sinisalo.”

What midfielders are joining Celtic this summer transfer window?
There are also medicals on the go for midfield duo Oliver Sorensen and Joel van den Berg. The latter will be a permanent addition from PSV in Holland while Sorensen arrives on loan with an option to buy from Parma. Sky Sports state: “Midfielders Oliver Sorensen and Joel van den Berg have had medicals in London ahead of their moves to Celtic.
“Sorensen is set to join from Parma on a season-long loan deal, with Celtic having the option to buy. Meanwhile, Celtic have agreed a £3.4m deal with PSV Eindhoven for Van den Berg.”
