Celtic favourite turns Hoops transfer powerbroker as new signing calls in advice off ex-Parkhead ace
Ex Hoops fan favourite offered some Parkhead insight for new signing
Celtic new boy Oliver Sorenson revealed he spoke with former defender and fellow Dane Erik Sviatchenko ahead of his move to Glasgow.
The Hoops have announced the signing of the 24-year old midfielder from Parma on a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy. Before his move to the Serie A, Sorenson spent five years at FC Midtjylland after coming through the youth ranks.
It was here where he got to know former Hoops fans favourite Sviatchenko - who left Parkhead after two years for the Danish side in 2018. The experienced centre back now plays for Port FC in Thailand but found time to congratulate his ex teammate on his Hoops move.

Sorenson contacts Sviatchenko for advice after Hoops switch
After completing his move, the midfielder claims he got in contact with Sviatchenko for advice on matters on and off the field. He told the CelticPlayer: “I spoke to him (Sviatchenko) and was messaging a bit, and he congratulated me for this move and wished me good luck. I should call him in a few days to get all the good places to go and eat and all this stuff!”
Sorenson took a couple of years to break into the first team at Midtjylland as we farmed out to second tier Frederica and Norwegian side HamKam in back-to-back seasons after signing his first professional contract. However, after that he was a mainstay in the middle of the park, making over 100 appearances in three years before his £8.5m move to Parma. He made 17 appearances last season for the Italians - who are now a stable Serie A outfit after financial troubles.

What has Sorenson said on signing for Celtic?
The former Denmark Under-21 international added: “I feel lucky to be a part of this club now, and I hope the style of play can suit me. It's attacking football. They want to attack and they want to go forward. They want to push the opposing team down in their box. So, I hope I can contribute and help the team to do that. I love to attack, I love to run, I love to defend and I love to tackle, so I'm ready to give 100 per cent, and I can't wait to be at Celtic Park for the first time.”
Meanwhile, Hoops boss Martin O’Neill said: “Oliver is someone with really good experience, playing at a high level in both Italy and Denmark. He has great energy, he is able to move really well up and down the pitch with strength and can play in a number of positions across the midfield. We are looking forward to working with him and think he can be an important player for us.”
