Celtic join Rangers in transfer pursuit of £6.5m ace as Hoops make 'informed' request amid growing suitor list

Celtic are claimed to have joined Rangers in pursuit of an in-demand striker.

Celtic are claimed to have asked for updates on a striker Rangers are also believed to be tracking.

The Hoops and Light Blues are both keen on signings this January window and they could each be looking close to home over a striker. Kieron Bowie’s suitor list is growing this month as his potential as a focal point number nine rises, scoring in Hibs’ 1-1 Premiership draw with Motherwell on Saturday.

Amid reports of Wolves and English interest, it’s been claimed in The Herald that Celtic have requested that they be kept informed of any deals being done for the forward, with Rangers also keen to be kept abreast of the situation. It’s believed £6.5m is the figure Hibs have on Bowie.

Rangers and Celtic transfer interest in Kieron Bowie

It’s claimed: “Celtic have registered a transfer interest in Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie. The Scotland internationalist, 23, is being monitored by a growing list of clubs after his impressive form for the Easter Road club.

“It's understood Hibs have been made aware of interest in Bowie from Celtic, with the Parkhead club keen to be kept informed over any possible transfer deals. Rangers have asked to remain in the loop on Bowie's situation with both Glasgow clubs keeping tabs on the forward, who scored for Hibs in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Saturday. Hibernian are thought to be looking at a £6.5m valuation for Bowie should transfer interest, also from down south in the Championship, result in a formal approach for his services.

Asked on if there had been any formal approaches for Bowie, Hibs head coach David Gray said: “I think the speculation is going to be there in terms of people approaching the club. One thing that Kieron needs to do, and it's the same as all the other players, is just keep doing what he's doing.

What Hibs have said about transfer interest in Kieron Bowie?

“They need to just keep their feet on the ground, keep working hard and keep improving. And the best thing about it is that they all do that. When you think about all the players who have been mentioned, they will continue to attract attention if they keep playing at a high standard.

“We all know that only happens with good players around them, and having good team-mates around you as well. So I think that's all going in the right direction. It's good that people are saying nice things about the players. It means you're doing something right and that's the most important thing."

At Celtic, they have been crying out for a striker, after Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah left in 2025 without replaces suffice to carry their load on a regular basis. Rangers strikers Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski have had their critics after summer moves to Ibrox with Danilo struggling for form.
