Gustaf Lagerbielke arrived in Glasgow during the summer of 2023. Despite coming in during the first summer of Brendan Rodgers’ second reign, he struggled for minutes and his future was left up in the air 12 months on from his entrance to Glasgow.

He moved out on loan to Holland with FC Twente in the transfer window and it remains to be seen what happens with the Celtic player next summer. What is seemingly apparent is interest in his services, should they not be needed at the Hoops.

According to Sportbladet, Swedish side Malmo made a move to bring the Swede back to his homeland before opting for Holland. It’s claimed Lagerbielke was ‘on the way’ to Malmo but for reasons unknown he turned them down. They ended up making a move to sign Colin Rösler from Mjällby AIF.

There are now concerns around Malmo centre-backs and that may force them back into the market at some stage. Reporting in Scandinavia goes on to say Lagerbielke is the ‘dream name’ for Malmo and that it wouldn’t be a surprise if they made another move to sign him next summer, following the conclusion of his loan at FC Twente.

This would not be the first time that Malmo have signed someone from Celtic in the recent past. During the summer transfer window, they signed Sead Haksabanovic following his loan at Championship side Stoke City.
