Celtic player ratings vs Aberdeen: Hoops throw away two-goal lead in dramatic Scottish Premiership clash

Celtic hosted Aberdeen at Parkhead with both enjoying a perfect start to the Scottish Premiership campaign beforehand.

Celtic were unable to pull clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership after throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Aberdeen in Saturday’s battle of the unbeaten teams. Goals from Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi handed Brendan Rodgers’ side a commanding lead at half-time but the visitors pulled level through Ester Sokler and Graeme Shinnie.

Celtic had the better of the opening 45 minutes and were rewarded for their dominance, with Hatate and Furuhashi scoring within four minutes of each other. Arne Engels had already come close on multiple occasions before the Japanese pair gave their side a deserved lead at the break.

Aberdeen pulled one back shortly after half-time through substitute Sokler and then equalised on the hour mark via Shinnie. The away side looked to have completed their comeback through Duk but a VAR review adjudged it to have come off his arm, with Celtic getting away with one.

Celtic then had a potential winner of their own ruled out in added-time with Adam Idah’s header ruled out after Alistair Johnston was penalised for a foul on goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov. The pair ended up sharing the spoils with their early title rivals. Below are your player ratings.
