Celtic player ratings vs Hearts: Attacking Hoops trio of 9/10s run riot as Jambos revenge mission fails miserably
Here’s how the Celtic players rated in their demolition of Hearts
Celtic returned to domestic action in style with a convincing 7-1 Premiership victory over Hearts in their first visit to Parkhead since the title decider.
Last season, nothing could split the teams until the last four minutes before the end of the title decider. Today, it was one-way traffic. Men against boys. The frightening pace of the Celtic attack proved far too much for a Jambos defence which was far too open.
Callum Osmand was the man who scored the goal that sent shockwaves round world football 155 days ago to win the league. He was the standout in the first half on his first start of the season as he notched a first half double. Before that, Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren were on target in quick succession. In a manic first half, Laurent Mendy got one back for the visitors - but an own goal from Jamie McCart put to bed any ambitious hopes of a comeback.
In the second 45, not much changed in terms of the balance of play - but the goals dried up. Camilo Duran got in on the action just after the break. A number of Hoops changes followed as bodies were rested ahead of their Europa League clash with Celta Vigo on Thursday. One of which was Kasper Hogh, who played in Nygren for Celtic’s seventh.
The result extends Celtic’s lead at the top of the table to four points ahead of Rangers and eight ahead of their opponents - who they now have a healthy goal difference over. Here’s how we rated the Celtic starting XI in their Parkhead demolition.
Viljami Sinisalo - 7/10
A spectator for most of the game. Couldn’t do much about Mendy’s goal - but wasn’t really tested.
Colby Donovan - 8/10
Coped well with Hearts danger man James McPake. Another assured display from the youngster.

Dane Murray - 8/10
Superb acrobatics to keep the ball alive for Nygren’s goal. His nightmare at Tynecastle seems many moons ago now.
Liam Scales - 8/10
Early heart-in-mouth moment when his overhit passback had to be swept up by Sinisalo. Took the captain’s armband when Callum McGregor was subbed and led by example.
Kieran Tierney - 8/10
Couldn’t miss for his goal but he was right place, right time and a nice assist for Duran’s goal. The scoreline also meant he could get a rest, so a good day all-round for the left back.
Callum McGregor - 7/10
Another taken off for a rest but before that controlled the game. Experience told in the middle of the park.
Mika Baur - 8/10
Played a huge role in the McCart own goal and looked on his game from the get-go. His forward runs are becoming a trademark.
Benjamin Nygren - 9/10
Three goals in two now for the Swede. Their output machine was always going to turn up on a day like today.

Haissem Hassan - 8/10
Hit the post in the first half and desperately tried to get in on the action. An assist on the day but perhaps should’ve been more. Still provided a constant threat with his pace.
Callum Osmand - 9/10
A constant threat all afternoon. The Hearts slayer struck again with a double and has put himself in starting contention in Europe next week.
Camilo Duran - 9/10
A well-weighted ball for the third and a nice dink for the fourth. Got his goal in the end too as he makes it three in three.
Subs used: Jota, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Emenalo, Hogh, Forrest.
