Celtic player ratings vs RB Leipzig: Hoops crown a new hero on Champions League glory night for the ages

Celtic were in Champions League action against RB Leipzig.

Celtic put in an outstanding performance in their latest Champions League clash, winning 3-1 against RB Leipzig in a key league phase tussle.

Picking up four points from the opening three games, a win over Bundesliga opposition would give the Hoops a huge lift towards a spot in the play-off round to make the last 16. After a good start, it was undone with a goal from Christoph Baumgartner off a set-piece.

Bonfire Night was in full swing across the land but it was fireworks on the pitch, with the fuse loaded by Nicolas Kuhn. Linked with Premier League moves pre-match, he curled a wonderful shot into the bottom corner to level the game up.

He then applied a tap-in right on the stroke to put Celtic a goal up at half-time. But he won’t take all the credit for that after an outstanding press won the ball off Leipzig defenders and teed him up for the strike. Kuhn was involved for the third Celtic goal, rolling in Alistair Johnston, who’s cross was spilled and crashed home by Reo Hatate.

It’s a statement win for Celtic and a coming of age display from Kuhn as clash with Club Brugge comes next in this competition before the end of this month. Here’s how WhoScored rated the players.
