The latest headlines from Glasgow as Celtic and Rangers both drop points

Scottish champions Celtic and high-flying Aberdeen played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Parkhead to maintain their unbeaten starts to the league season.

Celtic fans will be delighted at the fact they are now eight games unbeaten in the league, but will be disappointed to have dropped a two-goal lead after being in control of the contest for most of the first half.

Goals from Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi looked to have left the hosts out of sight but Jimmy Thelin’s defiant Dons team were able to battle their way back into the contest after goals from Ester Sokler and Graeme Shinnie early in the second half.

In the past, Aberdeen might have folded after such a deficit at half time, but Shinnie feels Thelin has instilled a fresh belief in the team as he lifted the lid on the team’s half-time discussion.

He told the Daily Record: “It’s a mix of everything.

“Everyone’s chatting at half-time. Everyone’s emotions are high, but we calmed it down, we spoke and we galvanised. We came out a lot better in the second half.”

Aberdeen were on a 13-match winning streak, heading into the contest, but Thelin showcased his ability to react to adversity.

Shinnie added: “He’s very calm. He doesn’t let the emotion of the game take over his decisions. He tries to stay calm so he can make the right decisions, which is important.

“You can’t get caught up in the emotions of football because you can then make wrong decisions. He’s very level-headed.

“We wanted to go out on the front foot in the second half. We wanted to turn it around as quickly as we could. I think we needed a couple of changes just to inject that bit of urgency and pace and I thought it worked really well.”

The skipper went on to praise the team for the fight that they showed.

“Amazing commitment. It’s what we’re driving every day, standards-wise, putting our bodies on the line. We were good all over the pitch. Jamie working hard in his running power and his passing. I thought he was brilliant. I could go through the whole team.

“The grit and determination were there. In the last 10 minutes, the blocks and the tackles were there and that is what you need.”

John Lundstram calls ex-Rangers man ‘a muppet’

Rangers failed to capitalise on Celtic and Aberdeen’s dropped points and instead fell to a costly 1-0 loss at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock.

The Light Blues lacked the required intensity to break down a stubborn Killie defence and now find themselves six points off the pace in the title race.

One of the stars of the show on the afternoon was former Ibrox shot-stopper Robby McCrorie, who was called into action on a number of occasions, particularly during the second half.

Following the win, McCrorie took to Instagram to upload some action shots including the Kilmarnock goal celebrations and him denying John Souttar at close range. He wrote alongside the images: "Brilliant team performance!" with a blue love heart emoji.

But his update didn't go down too well with his former Rangers colleague John Lundstram, who commented below "Couldn't wait to get this up could you ye muppet."

McCrorie responded to his post and wrote: "FS Lunny laaa."
