Celtic and Rangers 'tracking' 22-year-old ace ahead of the summer transfer window

Celtic and Rangers are being linked with a move for the same player this summer

Celtic and Rangers are ‘tracking’ Dundee defender Luke Graham, according to Football Insider. The Glasgow giants are both keen on a swoop for the centre-back this summer. He is under contract at Dens Park until June 2027.

Both the Hoops and the Gers are battling it out for the Scottish Premiership title. Martin O’Neil’s side won 3-2 away at Kilmarnock at Rugby Park over the weekend. Meanwhile, Danny Rohl’s men beat league leaders Hearts 4-2 at Ibrox.

Celtic and Rangers eye Dundee defender Luke Graham

Celtic and Rangers could see Graham as someone to boost their respective defensive departments. Dundee will face a real battle to keep hold of him when the next transfer window opens up for business amid strong attention from elsewhere. At the age of 22, he has bags of potential and will only get better in the future with it yet to be known where he will end up next.

Graham, 22, has been on the books of his current club since joining as a youngster following an academy spell at St Johnstone. He has made 35 appearances for their first-team in all competitions to date, 30 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with two goals from the back. The Scotland youth international has also been loaned out to Lochee United, Albion Rovers, Montrose and Falkirk in the past to get some experience under his belt and to boost his development.

Who will win the Scottish Premiership title amid Celtic and Rangers battle

Hearts continue to lead the way at the summit. Celtic and Rangers are chasing them down though. The Hoops will be feeling confident after coming back from 2-0 down to beat Kilmarnock last time out. Speaking afterwards, O’Neil said: “It was unbelievable. I was just saying to the players at the end of the game that I managed a really top-quality side here 20 years ago and they showed great spirit, but I’m telling you now that this was characteristic of this group – they were just magnificent.

“In the first-half I thought we were very poor. We created some chances but we didn’t defend properly as a team. When we got the ball we gave it away and we had to improve. I thought the substitutions coming on at half-time made a massive difference to us.

"Seb (Tounekti) scored a great goal and put us back in the game, Alex (Oxlade-Chamberlain) is just a class player and big Tomas (Cvancara)– what a turn for the final goal – so it was just magnificent to win. We’ve won today, it’s great and this is the start of a massive couple of weeks for us now.”

Meanwhile, following Rangers’ victory over Hearts, Rohl said: “Big respect to my group, I think we showed today how big is the personality, how big is the character. Let’s not speak until the end of the season about the mentality of this group, because we have a lot of mentality. We fully deserved over 90 minutes to win, we gave them two presents today. I cannot really remember that they had a more dangerous situation. We were in the game, we played even before the conceded goal with high intensity.”
