Celtic-linked Caoimhin Kelleher is in his prime according to pundit Tony Cascarino. The Hoops were reportedly interested in the stopper this past summer but weren’t able to lure him away from Liverpool.

The Republic of Irelnad international has now been handed the chance to become the Reds’ number one whilst Alisson is out injured. He has been their back-up over recent years.

Cascarino believes the Celtic target is in his ‘prime’ right now. He has said on TalkSPORT: “It’s an opportunity that he deserved to be a number one. What is he now? Mid-20s now. I think he is 25, Kelleher.

“He is in his prime to be a goalkeeper. I don’t have any problem in him wanting to be a first-team keeper, it’s whether he can get it at Liverpool. That is a question that only the manager can answer. But he can do himself no harm if he is playing regularly and performs like we know he can.

“I have seen enough of him with Ireland and with Liverpool that he is a very capable goalkeeper. So keep fingers crossed on that one.”

Midfielder should be eyed

Jamie Murphy believes Celtic and Rangers should both look at luring Miller to Glasgow this winter. He has said on Go Radio: “He’s been terrific. To come in the way he has, settle into the team, and almost be the main man at that age is really, really difficult to do, so it is no wonder why teams are looking at him. I expect him to move on sooner rather than later.

“He’s the type of player both Celtic and Rangers should be looking at. Look at the best players in Scotland first and foremost before you go to a foreign player. That is where the bread and butter is. You want to have those players you can develop and play over time. I think both teams should definitely be looking at Lennon Miller.”

Miller, who is 18-years-old, has been on the books at Motherwell since the age of seven. He has risen up through their academy ranks and has been a regular for them at various different youth levels.

The teenager has been hailed by another pundit in the form of Michael Stewart as well this week. He said on Premier Sports: “In a couple of years time, say he was playing in a different country or a different league, that value is going to be through the roof I would imagine. When I say £5m, I genuinely think that Motherwell could get between £3m to £5m for him.”

Miller made his senior debut for Motherwell at the age of just 16 and hasn’t looked back since. He has now made 50 appearances for the Scottish Premiership outfit to date and has scored six goals, four of which have come in this campaign already.

In the meantime, they are preparing for their return to league action next weekend following the international break. Brendan Rodgers’ side are joint-top of the table along with Aberdeen and face the Dons up next.

As for the Gers, they face an away trip to Rugby Park to lock horns with Kilmarnock. They are five points behind their rivals at the moment.
