A former Celtic star has made a generous cash donation to a struggling SPFL club, it’s claimed.
Ryan Christie was signed from Inverness CT by Celtic in 2015 and he went on to contribute towards three Premiership title successes. Now his former club find themselves in League One and up against the threat of administration amid, with £200k needed to get them by.

Hide AdA GoFundMe page has been set up and it’s been claimed on Go Radio than an anonymous £20k gesture made towards it was from Christie, now at Bournemouth. Speaking on the Scottish Football Show, Steve Riley from the Wyness Shuffle podcast said about the source of the donation: "Not that we know, but I think it's Ryan Christie. Thanks Ryan, but that's small change from his Bournemouth wage I think. But yeah, I think it's him."
The GoFundMe page reads: “Following the report to Shareholders dated 1st October 2024 in which the club laid out its current perilous financial position, which was subsequently published in the media, the Board of Directors are exploring all avenues to raise funding to save the club from entering Administration.
“Since the club was formed in 1994, it has been supported, financially, by various local businesses and individuals. However, as outlined in the report to the Shareholders, the club requires in the region of £1.4 million to £1.6 million to survive until the end of the 2024/25 season and has been unable to secure further investment.
“Of those funds, an amount of £200,000 is required immediately to meet the cash requirements of the club for the current month of October and will need to be raised no later than Wednesday 16th October 2024.
