Consultant makes £35k per week Celtic wages statement as big bucks claim over star not what it seems
Fresh addition said to be one of the club’s highest earners
Celtic new boy Kasper Hogh will be in the ‘highest earner range’ at Celtic on up to £35,000 a week, according to Keith Wyness.
The former Aberdeen, Everton and Aston Villa CEO remains well-connected in the game - and was surprised Hogh moved to Celtic over potential suitors south of the border, given the current wage ‘disparity’ between the SPFL Premiership and Premier League. Hogh, 25, signed on an initial four-year deal from Bodo Glimt earlier in the week for £11m, making him Celtic’s most expensive ever player.
Wyness, who now runs a consultancy business for elite clubs reckons the Danish striker has the makings of a Parkhead success story, given his pedigree in the Champions League. In an over-achieving Bodo side that reached the last 16 last season, he found the target against the likes of Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Sporting Lisbon and Juventus. Hogh is set to make his Celtic debut in front of the Parkhead faithful in their league opener against Dundee on Monday night.

Kasper Hogh to be in ‘high earner range’ as £35,000 claim made
Wyness told Football Insider: "Look, I think he's going to be in the Celtic high earner range, which, believe it or not, is only about £25,000 to £35,000-a-week. That shows you the disparity between Scottish football and the Premier League in that Celtic, one of the top, top clubs, have one of their top, top signings coming in for about £35,000-a-week.
"He's a great signing. I think he's a very exciting signing, and I think he's exactly what Celtic should be doing, getting those younger players in and hoping to sell them on. Celtic have done very well to get him there. I'm surprised he didn't actually move directly into England, either in the Championship or the Premier League, because with 25 goals and Bodo Glint's experience in the Champions League, I thought that would have made him attractive."

What has Kasper Hogh said after his Hoops switch?
In his first press conference, the Dane told Celtic TV: “It feels amazing. I just saw the pitch and it looks amazing. I got goosebumps. When I heard about the interest from Celtic, I was happy. It's about the gut feeling and the feeling here was good, so I'm happy I ended up here. I just try to take one day at a time and I will do my best and enjoy every day.
“I’ve had a talk with the gaffer and I’ve met all the boys so it feels like it's a good match. I'm also looking forward to meeting the fans. They will get a happy boy who likes to play football, work for the team and goals and be in the box.”
