Ex-England manager catches Celtic with sucker punch as firm Tottenham warning comes with loaded Hoops reminder
The former England manager has caught Celtic with a sucker punch.
A former England manager has dug out Celtic when assessing Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham team at present.
The former Hoops boss earned a shot at managing the Premier League heavyweight after winning five out of a possible six domestic trophies in Glasgow. This season, his team have been marred by inconsistency, achieving impressive results over Man City and Aston Villa but also losing to teams they’d be expected to beat like Ipswich Town.
Tottenham legend and former England boss Glenn Hoddle has been talking about his former team as they prepare to play Pep Guardiola’s City again this weekend. He knows that in typical Ange-ball style, this Spurs side are more than capable of playing on the front foot.
It’s in the defensive area of the park that the former midfielder has some concerns. Speaking to talkSPORT, the ex-Tottenham and England gaffer then proceeded to catch Celtic with a stray on how Postecoglou must adapt to the fact he won’t have all the ball like he did at Parkhead.
Hoddle said: “They can create, they’ve got this attacking thought about them, and that’s the incentive that they want to do. But you’ve got to be able to defend properly and I think that balance has got to be looked at. I think Ange has got to maybe look at that.
“In other leagues, in Celtic, no disrespect, they’d have had the ball all the time. They’ve got to respect the fact that this is a different league and this will get this will find you out.”
