How to watch Celtic v Rangers: Kick off time, TV channel and live stream for Women's Scottish Cup final clash
Everything you need to know about this weekend’s Women’s Old Firm Scottish Cup final
Following their SWPL campaigns which ended in disappointment for both, Celtic and Rangers will now face off in the final of the Scottish Cup, for a chance to end the season with silverware.
Leanne Crichton’s Rangers went into the final day of the league with a chance to overtake leaders Hearts, but were humiliated 6-0 away to Glasgow City. To add insult to injury, the Gorgie Girls lost 2-0 at Hibs, meaning three points for Rangers would’ve won them the title. They also tasted defeat to City in March’s SWPL Cup final where Leanne Ross’ side prevailed 2-1.
Celtic closed out the campaign with just two wins in their last 11, however one of these was against City after extra time in the semi-final. A fifth place finish in the league was far from ideal for Grant Scott’s side, however they now have the opportunity to end the season on a high. What have the managers said ahead of the Women’s Scottish Cup final?
Grant Scott said: “We’re looking for it to it now, very excited. We’re in a very privileged position to be where we are and we want to take full advantage of that. We’ve got to turn up. We’ve got to perform. Then it will be all about managing the natural nerves that’ll come for both teams and use them to your advantage, if you can. But ultimately you’ve got to perform on the day. No one will remember the runner-up.”
After the Glasgow City defeat, Leanne Crichton said: “I’m proud of the players already. This group has already come so, so far and we’ve got a perfect opportunity to go out one more time. The worst thing would be that today was our last game of the season. Then we’d need to carry that through the summer. So we need to bounce back and show a hell of a lot of mental resilience as a group.”
