Celtic star urges fan unity ahead of run-in as title ‘chasing’ statement made

Kieran Tierney has called for fans to come together to back Celtic amid their Scottish Premiership title push

Kieran Tierney has urged for Celtic fans to come together to spur the team on for the remainder of the season as they continue ‘chasing’ for the Scottish Premiership title.

This season remains unpredictable at the top of the table, as just six points separate the Hoops from leaders Hearts. With Rangers sandwiched between the two, there’s still plenty of time for the order of the top three to reshuffle several times.

Tierney has called on supporters to channel the ‘famous’ Celtic Park atmosphere, following their latest win over Livingston which has closed the gap on their Glasgow rivals. Celtic are now just two points behind Rangers, who drew to Motherwell in their latest clash.

The Hoops bagged all three points over Livi thanks to a huge debut from new signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The former Arsenal and Liverpool star marked a dream maiden appearance with a stoppage time winner to keep the pressure on Hearts.

Kieran Tierney calls for Celtic fan unity ahead of Kilmarnock clash

“As players, you want the best atmosphere. Celtic Park is famous for it, so you want the best, especially in a season like this, where it is tight, and we are chasing,” Tierney said following the return of many fans after a boycott during the Dundee match.

“We want the atmosphere to help us and push us on. Everyone at the stadium is trying, and I hope that going forward, the atmosphere remains good.

“This season, the belief in the last-minute winners we have had shows that we never give up. There were more games at the start of the season where we did that, even Kelechi [Iheanacho] on his debut at Rugby Park. It shows the character.

“It is one of those seasons where it is going to take results like this and massive shifts in momentum. We just need to keep going.”

Rangers and Hearts will face off against each other this weekend, meaning at least one of Celtic’s title rivals will drop points. If they draw and the Hoops beat Livingston, Martin O’Neill’s side will leapfrog Rangers and move to within four points of the Jambos.
