Phillipe Clement and Rangers have endured a difficult start to the season - several pockets of the Gers’ fanbase have begun to call for the Belgian’s head. Nevertheless, Clement thinks that this is not the route to go down - and not for his own sake.
He criticised the Light Blues’ policy of hiring and firing managers, saying that they need to ‘follow one process’ and said that implementing a style ‘takes time’.
Speaking to the press, Clement said: “It's been the only way in clubs all over over the world. If you change ideas every three months, six months or every year, of course there's no consistency in the club. So you need to follow a track, you need to follow one process that everybody keeps on going in the same direction.
"That's crucial. Otherwise you always have ups and downs and you will change a lot because if you go in a emotion of the day or one or two results, then you can never create consistency over the long term. Of course, that was all the idea about the contract from the board and also from me to show that I would not leave if something else came along.

“Everyone is working really hard to make it as fast as possible, that I can say to the fans. People who are not happy now, they were probably happy really happy with me six months ago, nine months ago. I am still the same man. In fact, I’m working even much harder than I did at that moment because there are much more things to be done, not only on the sportive side but also on the non-sportive side in this moment in the club.”
Martin Keown praises Celtic following Atalanta draw
Celtic picked up a positive result last night in the Champions League when they drew 0-0 with a tough Atalanta side - their defensive indefatigability earned them the praise of former Arsenal star Martin Keown.
He also sung the praises of head coach Brendan Rodgers for adapting Celtic’s approach to meet their opponents - something he has been criticised for failing to do in previous Champions League games.
