Rangers scouts watch star net hat-trick ahead of possible move as ex-Celtic ace centre of furious ref rage
Celtic and Rangers have both gone into the international break on the back of wins
Celtic won 2-0 away at Kilmarnock over the weekend to keep their momentum going. They remain joint-top of the Scottish Premiership table with Aberdeen and are yet to lose in the league.
As for Rangers, they beat Hearts 1-0 at home as they chase down the top two. Here is a look at some of the latest news regarding the pair...
Former Celtic man controversy
Former Celtic player Olivier Ntcham was at the centre of some refereeing controversy with Samsunspor in their last game. They thought they were denied a clear penalty in their 3-2 loss against Galatasaray.
They released a club statement after the match which read, via the Daily Record: “The referee of the match was assigned to other matches our club had previously played and made wrong decisions against us.
“Although we had drawn attention to this issue in previous matches, the same referee was assigned to this critical match that is extremely important for us.
“The referee of the match, who made many wrong decisions in the match, used the majority of his decisions in favor of our opponent. In particular, a clear foul position against our player Olivier Ntcham in the opponent’s penalty area was ignored and a penalty was not awarded.
“The referee management and decisions in question have been discussed by everyone, both biased and impartial, in the public. For the development and brand value of Turkish football, the performance of the match and VAR referees must be reviewed and the necessary must be done urgently.”
Rangers eye EFL man
According to Rangers News, Rangers have sent scouts to watch Peterborough United star Kwame Poku in action. The Gers are believed to be interested in a swoop for the attacking midfielder.
Poku, 23, scored a hat-trick for the Posh in their most recent League One fixture against Peterborough United. They ran out 6-1 winners.
The Londoner started his career in non-league as a youngster with spells at Cray Wanderers and Worthing. He was then snapped up by Colchester United in 2019 and adapted well to life in the Football League.
Poku scored six goals in 75 matches during his time in Essex to land a switch to Peterborough in 2021. He hasn’t looked back since and has become one of the key players at the London Stadium under the guidance of Darren Ferguson.
The Ghana international, who has one cap under his belt so far, has played 133 matches for the Posh to date and has found the net on 28 occasions, 10 of which have come this term already as they look to gain promotion to the Championship.
Peterborough will face a battle to keep hold of him down the line though amid inevitable attention from elsewhere. Rangers could see him as someone to bolster their attacking department in the future.
Philippe Clement’s side are nine points behind both Celtic and Aberdeen in the table. They have the chance to bolster their ranks in the upcoming January transfer window ahead of the second-half of the season.
